Commission an Omand Original Painting
Do you want to own a one-off commission painting taken from your own photograph? These make ideal gifts for birthdays, weddings
or anniversaries or just a lasting and unique memento of that special someone, something or somewhere.
I am happy to tackle just about any subject, be it a pet portrait, that favourite holiday snap, or a picture of his beloved motorbike.
I can work from emailed images or proper photographs and, as you can see, the picture above was even sent by mobile phone. All I would ask is that, if you did not take the
photo yourself, you have obtained written permission from the owner of the photo to use it for the painting.
Your photo may be an existing photograph or a new photo taken especially for the commission.
Either way, please try to ensure that:
- The main subject in the photograph is clear. It should be easy to make out facial features and eye colour. The clearer the features are the better the picture will be so try to ensure the
photo is relatively in focus.
- Nothing is missing from the picture like tops of heads being cut off. I can't add anything to the subject that isn't on the supplied photographs, or change their poses, although I can make small changes to the background.
- If you aren't sure about whether a photo is appropriate please feel free to e-mail or post it for me to take a look at and make suggestions.
- If you are going to e-mail me a scanned photograph, as a guide please scan it at 200 or 300dpi at the same size as the original photograph and send it as a high quality jpeg file (but under 5Mb please!).
- If you want to send a picture by mobile phone, please phone, text or email me first.
The cost of the painting depends on the size and shape of the canvas and the complexity of the subject. As a rough guide, the picture above, on a 12 inch (30 cm) square canvas was priced at £40 but larger and smaller pictures are easily done - prices start from £20. I can normally complete a painting of this size in two or three weeks, but larger paintings will take a bit longer.
