STILL LIFE

This is a gallery of all the paintings that I've done of objects and everyday things, the quirky ones, the slightly "different" subjects. I do enjoy painting things that others wouldn't normally consider or taking an everyday subject and putting an arty twist on it.

Please click on the images below to see a bigger picture of each artwork - the newest ones are at the top of the page.

flotsam shells digital Painting FLOTSAM

This artwork was done totally on the computer and based on a collection of items that I picked up from a walk on my favourite Moray coast beach.

fly past jets Painting

FLY PAST

With all the defence budget cuts and the closure of so many Scottish airbases, soon we will no longer see these silhouettes in the sky.

Tipsy wine bottle Painting

TIPSY

Yes this is meant to hang by the corner! We have all experienced the horrified silence as the wine bottle tips oh so slowly onto the clean tablecloth. Look carefully and you'll see the wine in the bottle sloshing about.

Trio violins or fiddles Painting

TRIO

Inspired by the Speyfest traditional music festival, where the fiddle is the king of celtic music, the violin is also king of the classical orchestra.  I loved the colour of the wood, the curves and the shape of the space between the instruments.

Red white buoy harbour painting

BUOY OH BUOY

Never passing up the opportunity for a good pun, I also liked the primary colour and the strong shape of the reflection of this buoy floating in the harbour.

temptation cream cup cake Painting

TEMPTATION

Seeing the cream piled high on the cupcakes in the baker's window, I immediately thought of using a triangular canvas for this sinful treat.

Windows Deco hexagon Painting

WINDOWS

The angular hexagon canvas and the restricted palette of mostly black and white make this a very Art Deco inspired piece.

yellow blue knot rope painting

KNOTICAL

A slightly more modern looking painting inspired by the ropes on the boats. The background colours are those of the nautical flag for the letter K – for knot – and the flag also signals Stop, I have something to communicate – which is what art is all about.

Break time wellies gardening shed Painting

BREAKTIME

This is my idea of gardening – the wellies are empty and the tea mug is full..

HUG ME

This is Yellow Ted - my oldest and dearest friend.

A BUNCH OF FLOURS

Someone asked me if I ever did still-life paintings so I decided I would do a kitchen-inspired take on the normal bunch of flowers!
