PEOPLE & PLACES

These are all paintings of people, places and workaday situations. A lot of my inspiration for these came from places I lived or visited while growing up in Scotland.

	MOON LIGHT The moon watches over the lighthouse and the lighthouse watches over the sea.
	STANDING STONES There's always lots of inspiration in the landscape and history of Orkney and this is a view over the standing stones of Stenness to the Ring of Brodgar.
	DAMSON BLUE OK, I admit she is not a real person, but she does exist - in my head. Calm and serene, somewhat melancholy, there are days when I really identify with her.
	MANNIE He sits at the village harbour watching over the boats as they come and go. "These see the works of the Lord and His wonders in the deep" Psalms 107:24
	LONELY PLANET Just when you think there's nothing left, you spot a tree on the horizon to give you something to focus on.
	THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND Well, what would you call it? Every time I go up to the Moray coast I pass a clothes line by the sea with a large wash blowing in the stiff sea breeze.
	ST CLEMENTS CHURCH This was a commissioned work for a golden wedding present. Worked from a photograph of the church in Dingwall that the happy couple got married in.
	CULLEN VIADUCT A very striking bridge, built to carry the railway but no longer in use as such, it stands very close to the beach at Cullen. I loved the contrast between the cut and shaped stone of the bridge and the rough natural red sandstone rocks on the beach.
	SPRING CLEANING On a trip to Anstruther in Fife, I saw these two worthies hard at work to get their boat ready for the summer season..
	FERGIE An image from my childhood growing up on a croft in Aberdeenshire.
	SEA THRIFT The rocks along the Moray coast in the spring are dotted with colourful flowers.
