In a bid to do more art this year, I'm hitting the Take a Chance button on London's National Gallery website to get some art inspiration...

What’s the original painting called, who is the artist and when was it painted?

The Côte des Bœufs at L'Hermitage by Camille Pissarro, painted in 1877.

What does it look like?

Impressionistic painting of a house in bare trees

What did I use as inspiration?

The view of the red roofed house through tall tree trunks reminded me of my uncle's cottage which is in the forests of the Cairngorms national park. With only a stream for water, a Raeburn for heating and a dirt track for access, his home is a tiny prefab with a tin roof - an old woodsman's hut. Perfect for the hermit lifestyle.

Note: Because of the Creative Commons licensing restrictions, I am not allowed to sell these "Inspired by" works on RedBubble, so please don't ask.
