Crystal encrusted dolphins frolic on a sea of dark blue velvet
As you pin your favourite brooch on your lavender scented bosom.
I never liked it. The brooch, I mean (or the lavender smell, come to that)
But you thought I did as I always used to watch you as you pinned it every Sunday.
It’s all I have left of you now. A piece of tat – a trinket to remind me of you.
And how I cherish that brooch and wish it would smell of lavender again.

London Memories
Two Scottish lasses with "champagne"
in plastic glasses on the train.
Cocktails mixed in plastic flasks.
Buttons fixed. (No, please don't ask).
Unions on strike. Undergound hops.
Too much to like in jewellery shops.
Christmas lights. Busy streets.
Woolly tights. Aching feet.
French bakery. Croques madames.
Brand fakery. Too many prams.
Trying on hats. Rain pouring down.
Waving at cats in Chinatown.
The V & A. Grayson Perry.
An art filled day – Eclectic? Very!
Theatre stages. Foil squares
from “Rock of Ages” in our hair.
Sleeping with the window open
(Heating in the room is broken).
This is how I will remember
Our trip to London in December.

My Poetry
I look forward to reliving a great past, that’s so forgiving,
Of made up memories I want to share.
Blending truth with lies to cover for the fact I’m someone other
Than the one they wanted to be there.
All the parties! So inviting... and the social whirl exciting!
Tales of times when laughter filled the air.
All in my imagination (with a bit of decoration)
Makes me stand out in the public glare.
All because they want to know about “the life behind the show” -
They just want glamour with designer flair.
So, pretending great conviction, I’ll write my “Biografiction”
And hope the world believes that I was there!
